Once upon a time, my parents were blessed with two little babies at the same time... a boy and a girl. As they grew older and older, their bond inseparable bond never broke. Becky and Joey will and always will be an iconic duo!
Have you ever wondered what it is actually like to be a twin? Well it isn't all a fairytale like I teased it to be in the beginning of this article, but it is pretty awesome. Hopefully, by writing this, I will release some of the stereotypes that come along with being a twin as well.
Let's talk about twin telepathy first. Its a myth. Yes, we sometimes say the same things and yes we sometimes feel the same emotions at the same time, but that happens when you hang out with someone every day of your life. You become similar and become interested in some of the same things. Twin telepathy can be compared to you and your best friend saying the same thing at the same time. My twin and I look alike, but definitely do not have telepathy or any crazy abnormal powers. We actually are completely different.
That's right- I just said that me and my twin are COMPLETELY different. Twins? Different? What? It could not be more true, though. Any difference that you could possibly think of applies to my brother and I. He likes fruit, I like vegetables. He likes pop punk, I like rap. It goes on and on and on like this. Twins are not the same person, and I think that that is the most mistaken stereotype regarding twins that there is.
Now, just because we are very different does not mean that we do not get along or do not share any interests at all. My brother is hands down my best friend in the whole entire world. Spending nineteen years with a person can either force hatred or closeness, and I thank God every day for the bond that Joey and I have. I trust him with anything and he trusts me too.
So what does it really feel like to be a twins? It feels awesome. I was born with a built in best friend, who could complain about that?
Here is my real life twin, Joey! This article is dedicated to my real lief twin, Joey. Thanks for being my rock, bro beans!
