Twin telepathy: fact or fiction?

Being able to summon your evil twin from a different time zone seems like a fictional theory meant for sci-fi movies. I guess the whole summoning and evil twin part is rather comical, but is it true that twins have a deeper connection than other siblings? You'd think that sharing such a tight space for nine months would have to create some sort of special bond. Being a twin myself the most common question I get is, "Do you guys know what each other are thinking," and "Do you know what each other are doing at all times?"

In technical terms, twin telepathy is defined as " the purported transmission of information from one person to another without using any of our known sensory channels or physical interaction." Although this seems like a far stretch there are multiple interesting instances of this theory being true.

In 2009, Gemma and Leanne Houghton created an interesting case supporting twin telepathy. 15-year-old Gemma claimed that she was overtaken with a troubled feeling seeming to know her sister Leanne was in pain or trouble. Gemma then rushed upstairs to their bathroom where she knew Leanne was taking a bath, to find her unresponsive in the bathtub. Gemma revived her sister, saving her life. Although there is no scientific way to determine if Gemma actually felt a response to Leanne's turmoil or if it was a coincidence that she went into the bathroom, this story creates interesting evidence of the psychological connection between twins.

On my own personal account, I can say with confidence that some weird coincidences have occurred causing me to lean towards the scientific proof of twin telepathy. On numerous occasions, my sister and I have walked downstairs wearing the exact same shirt in different colors. Too many times to count I'll look up on the bus going to class to see my sister staring at me and probably like most twins we'll respond to people in unison far too often. Although I think twin telepathy is a far stretch I do believe that a deeper connection comes with siblings born on the same day. In no way shape or form can I read my sister's mind but there are numerous instances that lead me to believe different.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
