Twenty Thoughts From A Pale Girl In Summer

The struggle is real. It is oh so real. I've had more sunburns than Oprah audience members had gifts.

Alright, I'm pale. When I say pale, I mean pale like an infant born in Alaska during the dead of winter with no sunlight. Summer is great and I love the sun. The sun does not always love me. These are 20 thoughts of a pale girl in summer.

1. There is eternally a bottle of Aloe Vera ready and waiting in my fridge.

2. Yes, I carry a bottle of sunblock with me every where I go.

3. Hey, can you get my back for me?

4. It's only been half an hour, am I already burned?

5. Oh, that is definitely going to peal.

6. Maybe this is going to fade into a nice tan.

7. Nope. It pealed. Starting over again.

8. My forearms look pretty tan.

9. Oh, do not compare my forearms to my stomach.

10. Yes, I do have to wear sunblock.

11. Give me five minutes, I need to reapply.

12. Is there any shade here?

13. SPF 5? Are you serious? I'm going to need at least twenty five higher than that.

14. Is that a visible tan line?

15. IT'S A TAN LINE!

16. You burned, why didn't you wear sunblock? I reapplied three times. The sun hates me. Thanks.

17. Why don't you just let yourself burn and then you'll have a base. No, thank you that sounds like skin cancer. Honestly, skin cancer is very real, I need the sunblock.

18. Am I pale of am I Queen Elsa?

19. I'm Queen Elsa.

20. Mom, where's the sunblock?

Protect yourselves, porcelain beauties. There is no shame in spraying that SPF.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
