An Honest Review of Twenty-One Pilots' 'Trench'

Imagine me in the middle of July; scrolling through the depths of Youtube to find something to watch during my long lunch. After scrolling for what seemed like forever; I stumbled across something surprising. Twenty-One Pilots released not one but two new songs.

I just couldn't stop freaking out as I listened to the first two singles "Nico and The Niners" and "Jumpsuit."

I, a long-time Twenty-One Pilots fan, couldn't wait to get my hands on this new era of music from the "hometown heroes".

Their long-awaited return has been out for a little while now. I wanted to write this review for a while but I needed time to sit and enjoy my time with this album and give it a few listens before I give it my official review.

The tracklist is as follows:

1. "Jumpsuit"
2. "Levitate"
3. "Morph"
4. "My Blood"
5. "Chlorine"
6. "Smithereens"
7. "Neon Gravestones"
8. "The Hype"
9. "Nico and the Niners"
10. "Cut My Lip"
11. "Bandito"
12. "Pet Cheetah"
13. "Legend"
14. "Leave the City"

Despite my worries, it is safe to say that Tyler Joseph definitely lived up to the hype set in motion since the release of Jumpsuit. I see fans try to stick this album into a certain category pertaining to their previous records but it defies everything that this band has done before.

I have nothing but good things to say about this album; there is everything to love and nothing to hate when it comes to the world of Trench.

The album calls for a complete immersion. With all of the cryptic teasers and story-filled videos we have been getting; this just goes to show the absolute insane talent that Tyler Joseph has. Not only did he create a whole album, but he also created a whole world.

Favorite Track: "My Blood"

This choice was a hard one to make. I can go in and listen to this album without skipping over any of the tracks. However, if I'm scrolling through my playlist and this song just so happens to pass by me; I'm going to play it.

It's funky, it's fine, and it gets me hyped no matter what crap mood I seem to be in.

Least Favorite Track: Um, don't think I have one?

I seriously love all of these tracks, I listen to at least each of them without skipping and fussing about it.

I love all of these songs and I'm usually very picky about that.

Overall, this is what I'm going to be listening to for the rest of the semester so you can enjoy my constant flurry of Instagram captions relating to this album.

Am I sorry? Nope!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
