The duo twenty one pilots give a live show like no other. They are genre bending, meaning they do not fit the standards to any single genre. After a quick Google search, you'll find out that they are interpreted as alternative hip hop, indie pop, electropop, and rock. They probably fit into a few more genres than that as well. Not only are they genre-defying, but they also have an unconventional makeup of their band. It is just two guys and an amazing crew that do all of this. The band consists of a drummer, Josh Dun and a lead singer, Tyler Joseph, both who hail from Columbus, Ohio and humble Midwestern families.

twenty one pilots, also known as tøp, and iconically spelled completely in lowercase, create their own music for their live shows - not the studio - and it shows as soon as the lights go down in the venue. They do not believe in a show where the band just stands on the stage and plays while the crowd just watches. They break the barricade as many times as allowed.

The show starts with an animated face on a screen speaking the words "hello, and welcome to the show" in a low, happy voice. Then the curtain drops and you see Tyler standing on a box with an overhead microphone as if it was hanging from the ceiling and the intro to Fairly Local rings through the venue. Then the show moves on to their newest single "Heavydirtysoul." Both Tyler and Josh are clad in black pants, white shirts, red suit jackets and black ski masks in an attempt to take a face and distinct story away from the song and give the fans more of an ability to give it their own face.

As the energy grows higher, so does the interaction. The first is during "Hometown", where Tyler shows up in the crowd on the opposite side of the venue in lower level seating and finishes the song in the stands before taking the black mask off.

Later on, they bring "Lane Boy" to life as the crowd gets low to the floor until the song hits again and two hazmats with gas masks enter the stage with the words "fame" and "success" written on the front as they push smoke over the crowd. Soon Josh, "fame" and "success" create a drum line to finish the song.

They move to the B stage at the back of general admission to perform old favorites like "Ode To Sleep" and "Addict With A Pen." They also included their newest release, a cover of My Chemical Romance's "Cancer" which was for the British magazine, Rock Sound, tribute to "The Black Parade" album. During "Holding Onto You", the duo's first single to hit the radio waves back in 2013, they are on the A stage and Tyler stands on the hands of the pit and later both Josh and Tyler are standing on the top of the piano and Tyler metaphorically shoots Josh into a backflip off the top.

The next thing they do is something that may make your jaw drop. During "Ride", which peaked at number one on Billboard's Top 40, Josh actually plays drums on top of the pit, and it looks like a stationary crowd surf. They put a drum set onto a platform and he sits and plays just like he would sitting on a solid surface.

Guns For Hands is the next extravagant part of the show. The song "Guns For Hands" is a fan favorite and here is where they take out the 'Pokéball of Death.' It is essentially a human sized inflatable hamster ball and either Josh or Tyler will climb into it and run across the entire pit before landing back on stage.

"Car Radio" is another song that has been an icon of the band for a large part of their span so far. They take this song and put Josh on the the main stage with Tyler and later Tyler moves to the back of the arena and climbs a tall structure or scaffolding. he has never been known to hold back during live shows, especially during this song. For the end of the song when it hits he is standing on the small platform with the black ski mask back on to take away the identity of the story within the song.

Now the night is coming to end, "Truce" is the first out, and they finish with the anthem "Trees." Those who have seen a twenty one pilots show know how the exhilaration and surreal nature that surrounds the final song. Both Josh and Tyler move to standing on top of the pit one more time, both with drums to finish the last part of the song. Confetti and smoke fill the air and the energy in the room is electric. There is no other feeling it the world. Every one should experience this or something like this in their lifetime. Tyler, Josh, Reel Bear Media and the crew make this show so unforgettable and the world is better of with them in it. At the end of the show after their bow, they say "We are twenty one pilots, and so are you."

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
