"Twenty Minutes Of Action"

It's time for those who commit rape crimes to take responsibility for their actions.

Most of you are very aware of the case being broadcasted over basically every social media platform about twenty year old Brock Turner who penetrated and raped an unconscious and intoxicated woman. Now this alone is a terrible and emotional story and there are several aspects of it that are causing people to, for lack of a better term, lose their shit.

As they should. Between the supporters sympathizing with Turner and the incredibly disturbing six month sentence, this just proves that rape culture is spreading and is not getting the justice is deserves.

What I would like to address is the comment made by Turner's father.

". . . Twenty minutes of action."

When I read this I cannot tell you how uncomfortable and uneasy this statement made me feel. Going off this I would like to write to the human equivalent to scum that is the father to know that myself as well as millions of others have learned that this world is still not owning up to their actions.

How you can not only not be disgusted with yourself but back up such a horrifying action is beyond me. How you can take something so personal that was not consented to and turn it into how your son didn't get enough action, leaves me speechless.

It has me questioning what parents are teaching their children. We spend so much time stressing that woman should never leave their drink unattended that the fact that we should teach boys to not rape women becomes less spoken about. Of course this isn't something we should have to say to anyone.

So you, the father of this piece of garbage, instead of disciplining your son because of what he did was wrong, your motive of choice is to shrug the event off because hey, at least he got something, no harm done, right?

She was drunk, she had it coming, is that what you're thinking? It was her own fault for getting so blacked out drunk. She should be accountable of her own actions. These have all probably gone through your twisted sick demented mind. Sorry to burst your bubble, but you could not be more wrong.

I hope you can sleep at night knowing that you basically removed the word rape from the situation completely and decided it was better to just state it as your son got laid for a twenty minutes. Well damn, next time he'll just have to try harder right? Maybe he should just drug her to begin with, that would cut a lot of time out and more time for your son to get more than twenty minutes of action.

Because that wouldn't be a crime either. So where do you draw the line, Mr. Turner? If penetrating and raping someone who did not consent to sexual actions isn't wrong, what is wrong in your book?

Last time I checked drinking wasn't illegal, becoming insanely drunk and blacking out wasn't a crime.Raping someone is.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
