'Twas The Week After Finals

The tale of a baller back home.

'Twas The Week After Finals
torontosun.com

'Twas the week after finals, and everyone went home,

hanging with family and friends, and even chilling alone.

The papers and tests were done, a thing of the past.

It was time to relax, to sleep in and to have peace at last.

Dorm rooms are great, but there’s something about your own bed.

There’s no people next door, but a bass is still pounding in your head.

Not depending on meal plans is such a great time.

You don’t need Chipotle for fresh made guacamole with lime.

Your dog or your cat (if you have one) snuggle up to your legs,

while your mom or your sibling makes you bacon and eggs.

Your siblings are sweet and chill (because Mom told them so),

and when your friends hit you up, (after checking with Mom) you’re rarin’ to go.

Though most people from high school you’d like to avoid,

that select few you still see, gives you so much joy.

You catch up on the year, recapping on the times,

cringing on thoughts of high school, but it was pleasant (sometimes).

Whatever the holiday you celebrate,

I hope it is / was / will be great.

Good company and great food.

It will be calm and no family feud.

For it’s the week after finals, and we all can agree,

it’s a cause for celebration, no school until January!

You’ve said goodbye to your friends, you’ll miss them all.

You had some great times, but thank gosh it’s the end of fall.

You’ll be back at it next semester, that’s right in the spring.

Ready to party and go crazy, and of course, do that academics thing.

More late night chats and memories to be had,

but for now enjoy the lack of responsibility, (it’s not too bad).

As you kick back and relax with a smile on your face,

Happy holidays at home! Enjoy your parents' place!

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

What is "talking?" How does one "talk?"

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
