'Twas the first night of fall break,
and all through the dorms
students were scurrying
and packing bags to go home.
Most of the students, that is,
got ready for that travel.
I chose to stay here on campus,
equipped with a PSL, leggings, and flannel.
I run to the bakery down the street to ensure that I'll have some bread to eat. Since most students went away for break, the dining hall closed and the cafe takes long breaks (opening a few hours a day).
Thank goodness my family equipped me with how to cook.
My dorm's kitchen has been my nook.
Chicken and pasta with veggies, soup, mac & cheese, and oatmeal--since that was the cheapest.
It's better than ramen, although it does mean more cleaning.
I don't like that the computer lab has limited availability, but when I'm in there, I let my inner genius free.
Research proposals, papers, homework, and presentations.
At least Google docs alleviates some of my frustrations.
The day is drawing to a close,
You change out of your leggings for some snugglier clothes.
You break out the sweatpants and a comfy tee,
and get ready for bed--maybe watch a movie.
As you nod off satisfied with how your day went, you realize:
"Hey, I'll have hot water for a shower almost all day again."
So, my dear reader, that is the life of staying on campus for break.
There is very rarely a change, other than some good friends and memories.
