I'll be briefly discussing television series I got into that have been later canceled for whatever reason and explain why they should've been continued. Besides the fact that viewers were left on a cliffhanger, there will be other reasons listed. And so, in no particular order, here are the television series that should not have been canceled.
1. Twisted (2013-2014)
When I started this show, I was skeptical of it being any good, considering that I only got into it because it had Avan Jogia as a protagonist. Once I got into it, I couldn't stop watching and was pretty sure the show would be renewed after being down in the dumps over one of my shows being on a break for four months. Twisted definitely had potential for growth and character development.
2. Finding Carter (2014-2015)
The characters grew so much. I thought for sure that this show would be renewed again after season 2 ended, but as expected, my heart was broken into pieces once again when I found out this got canceled. One day, I wondered why it hasn't premiered again after some time and googled it to find out it has been canceled. There's even been a petition made to bring it back.
3. Recovery Road (2016)
This show was a great show for education on drug abuse and addiction. I found myself growing more and more connected to the characters, even though the season only had 10 episodes. I'm angered that I didn't get to learn more about the characters' backgrounds and stories. I'm also upset by the fact that one of the most diverse shows with different cast members, got canceled.
4. The Carrie Diaries (2013-2014)
Being a fan of Annasophia Robb and Austin Butler and also being a fan of Sex and the City, I gave this show a chance and was amazed. This show introduced me to many 80's soundtracks I wouldn't have found on my own. It also touched on aspects, such as homophobia, STDs, infidelity and drug abuse.
5. Huge (2010)
I got into this show while scanning through my demand channel when I saw Nikki Blonksy on the cover. I was interested since I enjoyed her acting in Harold, Hairspray, and her appearance in Ugly Betty. This show touched on eating disorders, obesity and several other health aspects, due to the setting being at a weight-loss camp. I found myself crying and developing emotional attachments to these characters. It was only after I finished the show on demand that I learned it was canceled. This show is the reason why I currently check to see if other shows have been canceled to consider if it's worth it, which I mostly choose to ditch canceled shows. I'm also hesitant to get into new series because of the fear of them being canceled, so I prefer completed series.
6. Ugly Betty (2006-2010)
I binge watched this series in a few weeks on Netflix a couple years ago with my mother. Out of all of the (canceled) shows I've watched, I've got to say that the ending to this show wasn't too heartbreaking for me, since it ran for four seasons. However, a part of me wishes they made one last episode of verification of Betty and Daniel being a thing, because I've shipped them for a while. I only found out the show was canceled after a quick Google search, because even though I wasn't too heartbroken over the ending, I felt a small sense of incompleteness like there was something missing. And I was right.
All of these shows had potential in some shape or form and I still, to this day, mourn their cancellation.
