TV Review: What I Thought About 'Curvy Style with Timothy Snell'

This weekend, as I spent time with my godparents and my god-siblings, I spent time catching up on some new television shows. The first on my list was a new show on Centric, "Curvy Style with Timothy Snell." I binged watched the six episodes so far, and I immediately fell in love. The half-hour docu-series follows celebrity stylist and "Curvy Connoisseur" as he changes the lives of curvy women. From celebrities to everyday women, Tim shows them how to serve their curves and love their body. Each episode had an uplifting, educational and funny edge to it and I was here for it all honey. Since I loved it, I had to share all I learned, so here are three reasons you should tune into the show if you haven't tuned it yet.

1. Fashion Tips/ Fashion Education from Mr. Timothy Snell

Throughout the episode while Tim is styling his clients, Tim Tips flash across the bottom of the screen. These tips were written down in my little book of fashion advice. Some of his exclusive tips were: 1. Focus on finding the right silhouette and then find your color. 2. Shape and minimize with A-line skirts. 3. Bridal Shops are great places for evening looks. 4. When wearing an all black outfit pair it with bold accessories. 5. Choose fabrics that graze the body not squeeze. I'm sure Mr. Tim has plenty of more tips for us but these stood out to me and it gives you advice from finding the right outfit, to how to dress and accentuate your body to how to pair colors with accessories and so much more.

2. You Learn New Terminology

Throughout most of the episodes, the word decollatage was used heavily by Tim. the word is french and it means to reveal your neck. Ladies it is always important to know how to reveal your decollatage because as Tim says "you always want the eyes in the right places". I noticed that Tim advised his clients to go with dresses that had a v-neck or deep v-neck in it in order to show off the decollatage and cleavage without giving them too much,

3. Tim's Curvy Conversations

Before styling his clients, Tim sits down and has a curvy conversation with them to find out what they don't want to reveal, what look they are going for, how they feel about their body and what they want from the experience. The curvy conversation brings a personal side to each episode and it is one of my highlights when I watch the episodes.

I am so happy that a show like this was created because the issues surrounding inclusivity and different body types are not always acknowledged. This show gives all women the confidence to love and embrace her curves and to show the world how beautiful she is. As a young curvy woman, this show was more than just a makeover television series. It is the perfect way to mix fashion, education and positivity and learning how to serve your curves will make you dance like this:

This show is a must see so if you haven't tuned in, make sure to catch up on all episodes on demand. Hurry and go watch so that you can become Timothy Snell approved!

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Before that day, I never really thought about being a friend to myself, and at the time, I didn't really know what it meant. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.

Here are five things everyone should learn in order to be a better friend to themselves. These steps are hard, but they're so worth it.
