We all remember when Seth Troxler and the Martinez Brother's decided to collaborate together with "Tuskegee" back in 2014. The idea was to bring together some of the great components that made 90's dance music so traditional with exclusively using Vinyl. DC10 brought together the trio over a decade ago, and since then they have become one of the most renowned collaborative projects in dance music. The trio recognizes their label as a step into the enlightening world of early dance music. What really sparked the collective was the love all of them shared for cultural music, such as Paradise Garage. According to an interview with Steve Martinez in FactMag,
It’s such a European market in the dance music scene that we’re in, it would be so cool to show what it was like in the ’90s […] Look at Paradise Garage, that was the black and Latino perspective in New York at that time and that’s what created those ideas and feelings. That’s just a historical fact. So we’re trying to bring back those ideas and connect with the culture that was lost prior to now with some 90s nostalgia.
Over the last couple of years, Tuskegee has done exactly what they had sought out to do - to bring back the sentimentality of 90's dance music through lost elements of the culture. This would explain why the consider themselves as a Label of Cultural Heritage. With little activity from the label since they launched their first release "Space and Time" back in 2014. While the 12" B-side vinyl was a nostalgic element that became a hit among dance floor lovers, fans are wondering why Tuskegee has gone dark.
Well, the dry spell is over Seth Troxler and the Martinez Brother's are back at it again with a brand new promo mix.
