This past year I finally made it to twenty-one. Being a college student, this was the one thing I was actually looking forward to. The three years of being a fake adult were finally over as I stepped into a new world... a 21-year-old's world. Though being twenty-one does have its perks, here are some reasons why it actually sucks.

1. That shit is expensive.

Wait... How much did I spend last night?

2. You gain like...10 pounds.

3. The whole bar is just one massive line.

4. Happy hour is from 9-11. And on a Wednesday?

Guess I'm skipping my 8 a.m. tomorrow

5. Everyone is always asking you to buy them alcohol.

6. Your hangovers get more painful every time you drink.

7. You can barely keep down a shot.

8. Uber becomes a key part of your life.

9. You get drinks spilled on you. All. The. Time.

Who thought drinking on the dance floor was a good idea?

10. There is always a cover.

11. You forget to close your tab.

And have to pay it in the morning.

12. Bouncers will kick you out for anything.

13. And sometimes they don't even ask you for your ID.

14. You can finally be considered an alcoholic.

15. This is the last birthday you can really look forward to.

No one likes you when your 22

16. Not all your friends are 21 yet.

17. Sometimes you just want to stay at home and drink by yourself.

18. You finally can legally drink around your parents and it's weird AF.

19. You are dragged to the bars after every event.

Even after a damn crate race.

20. Hooking up with different people just isn't the same anymore.

21. You realize you're getting way to old for all of this.

Cheers to being 21!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
