How Writing Healed Me During a Dark Time

"Turn of the Seasons" - An Original Poem

The first article I wrote for the Odyssey Online was about my story and the journey that I have been on the last six years. Writing helped me through a dark time, and is still helping me today. This is one of the poems I wrote about the dark times and how I've been growing and healing, how I finally saw the sun again.

Time

to turn the

Seasons.

Summer turned to Fall.

Grey clouds took over the sky;

A storm was coming.

The sound of thunder caught her attention;

She looked up towards the bleak heavens

And felt rain drops splash her cheeks.

Everyone was inside sheltering from the storm.

Walking through the neighborhood,

She felt as empty as the street around her.

Trees had shed their blanket of fronds.

The leaves gnawed loudly under her feet as she walked.

A part of her spirit breaking with each crunch.

How long would Fall last?

The season stubbornly drudged on,

Dragging her along in its merciless campaign

Just when her spirit was almost harvested,

She reached the end of the street,

Rejoicing as the appearance of a bright blue sky.

The clouds had dissipated and the sun shone through.

The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.
