This is something I have always struggled with and I think most people do too.
College is hard because you are an adult but not really and you want responsibility but not total responsibility because you have to focus on your studies. It is almost like you are stuck in this sort of limbo for 4 or so years and sometimes it gets difficult.
Originally, my plan was not to work my first year, but I ended up getting a job pretty much immediately. When I started working, I found out truly how difficult it is trying to balance everything. I was trying to work 30+ hours a week on top of 15 hours of school on top of 15 or so hours of school outside of class AND trying yo have a life- dance team, socializing, etc. I found myself feeling sort of like I was drowning and realized I maybe needed to take stuff off my plate, so that is what I did. It is okay to quit things when you have to much on your plate, I had to make some tough choices- quit my job to find one that would let me work around 20 hours, quit dance, left my sorority.
And guess what? My grades were way better when I cut some stuff out AND I had an actual social life, it was a miracle. It is truly all about finding a balance and one that works for you!
