My momma always gives the best advice - try your best. The advice of “try your best” resonates with me on a daily basis. Yes, this seems simple, but it’s not always something we remember. Life’s busy, there’s no question about it. At times there’s too much going on and it’s so easy to get caught up in it all. But there’s a way to alleviate some of the chaos. Don’t strive for perfection. You don’t have to be number one. You shouldn’t compete with others. You don’t even have to finish a task in the time you allotted for it to be done. All you have to do is try and try with everything you have.
I used to have a mindset of “I have to get this done now.” Later wasn’t an option. I also used to have the mindset that what I was trying to get done had to be done perfectly. I was wrong. There are times when day-to-day activities are interrupted. Events come up that must be attended to immediately and a task on your daily to do list may be bumped back another day. So what? It’ll be there tomorrow. The task probably isn’t going anywhere.
This phrase has been on my mind very heavily this week. I have to remind myself of it periodically throughout the day. As college students know, deadlines are approaching quite quickly. Final exams are looming. You may be getting results back on work where you thought you did really well and only ended up doing average. But that’s okay; be okay with your efforts. As long as you did your best! After all, that’s all you can do!
