Try This Exercise For A Healthy Mindset!

As we progress through different stages of our lives, there will be a halt, before continuing with our success. Regardless of how easygoing your life may appear, or realistically be, a period of time will display our flaws, as we are exposed to the horrors of life. Instead of dreading these developing predicaments in our lives, here’s a daily reminder of the factors that contribute to the recipe of living a wonderful life, even during times of adversity.

1) Collect all the factors required to attain a successful recipe.

These factors include the people and hobbies that create self-happiness. It could be your family, a sibling, a particular book, music, or even a sport. Consider these factors as ones that you “cannot live without.”

2) Take the first factor available to you, write it on a piece of paper, and place it within any empty jar.

This first factor can be the primary thought in your head when contemplating on significant aspects of your life. For example, let’s say we have a passion for playing basketball. This may be the only aspect that is currently a stable element in your life. If not, continue to write on pieces of paper the items or people that are available to you and bring you joy. Then, place them in an empty jar to keep track of what you write.

3) If there is only one factor available, it’s a better bargain than you can believe.

If we determine that a basketball is the only item currently available to me and that being involved in the game brings me ultimate happiness, I will solely focus on this primary factor. The positive ideology about one significant passion in a person’s life is that more concentration and determination will be applied to the focused area of interest. The time, commitment, and practices that we owe ourselves is simply at the tip of our fingers, awaiting our spontaneous move and ambition.

4) If one aspect only exists, our skills will multiply within this area of interest, creating an UNSTOPPABLE individual.

The more concentration I place into basketball, decreases the amount of time my mind focuses on the negative experiences and actions occurring. I am distracted from the array of mixed emotions, and instead, experience the ultimate feeling of success. Ultimately, I grow wiser and increase my intellect on the game of basketball. A passion, or a distraction, so simple, can transform our minds and open our eyes to its incredibility. By this occurring, not only do we learn, but we improve. We become phenomenal at something which was once so foreign to us. In a way, we prove that we can conquer the inevitable.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
