1. Your time is completely wasted.

I know this may be surprising that this is number one, but let's think about it. That day, I worked out, took a shower, and then did my makeup and hair. All together those things probably take a good three and a half hours combined, depending on how long the workout is or what hairstyle you're choosing to do with your hair that day.

Personally, I left mine down and did my full face of makeup, which takes longer than the typical swipe of eyeliner and mascara. When someone doesn't show up to appreciate that, it's a waste of precious time I could be sleeping.

2. You will still have hope that they show up and apologize.

Sitting alone in a theater is usually perfectly okay, unless you're waiting for prince charming to text you or let you know why they failed to get on their horse and come over to save you from the misery of sitting alone and until the last minute, you still have hope that they'll rush in with flowers or something too. Then, when the credits start to roll, you realize that they either forgot or slept through their alarm.

3. Regardless of their reasoning, it still feels awful.

Even if they apologize, sitting there alone still feels like being crushed with cement. Somehow you think that everyone around you knows that you were stood up, because why else would you be that cute and alone?

4. You will never forget it.

Typically, we tend to remember the worst things that happen to us, and this definitely makes my personal list. All I remember is crying in my car afterward as the rain fell down on my windshield. Ironically, I felt like I was in a movie.

5. You're always afraid it will happen again.

I know it's an irrational fear, but something in the back of your mind will always be scared that you'll have to go through the humiliation and be crushed by the cement again. Honestly, nobody's ego or heart should have to handle that twice.

6. You looked forward to the date for a long time.

Since the entire idea was brought up, you were probably extremely excited. Even driving to the date, your heart did little flip-flops. The fact that they didn't show basically ruined all that excitement for you, and now you don't know whether to get super excited about every date or to try to stay cool in the future.

7. Even Taylor Swift gets it (sort of).

"The Moment I Knew" is probably the closest song that resembles being stood up on a date, but Taylor was stood up at her birthday party. I'm pretty sure being stood up at your own birthday party is worse than a small date, but they still hurt the same in retrospect. I felt that when she said "it was like slow motion standing there…with no one to impress."

Also, "And what do you do when the one who means the most to you is the one who didn't show?"

Personally, I've got some mad respect for Taylor for that one, because Taylor Swift songs have a good way of making you feel like you're not alone.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
