The Truth is Out There

Are aliens real? Or is all the evidence just a coincidence?

Anyone who knows me, knows I have this weird obsession with trivia and facts. If there is a weird fact about nature, space, etc, ya girl probably knows about it. You don't know how many times I've heard my friends say, "How do you know that?" or "Why do you know that".

I have no idea either. I just like to know things, I guess.

Anyways, aliens have always been an area of interest for me, so I thought I would compile some cool alien trivia for my fellow believers (and non-believers).

Roswell

This is one of the OG alien events. In 1947, something crashed on the Roswell Air Force base. An initial press release stated it was something along the lines of a "metal disc", although the story quickly changed to the object being a crashed weather balloon. The world went wild. Stories circulated from employees and residents about the "truth" of the crash. Some sought to expose the real story of what happened, while others tried desperately to get the world to forget this event. Over the years, more "evidence" has come out, yet the story remains unclear. What actually happened? You already know my money is on aliens.

Area 51

One of the most not-so-well-kept secrets when it comes to alien theories. This military base is located 100 miles away from Las Vegas, but was for years not acknowledged by the government. It has been said that the building is an experimental flight facility, but the mystery surrounding the area is immense. The facility is in the middle of the desert, and top security clearance is required to get past the checkpoints guarding Area 51. More and more evidence has leaked over the years over the true nature of the facility, yet more questions than answers have been raised. What is going on in this facility? Why so much secrecy? Aliens, perhaps?

Message from Space

In 1977, Jerry Ehman, a professor, received a message from a satellite. He was immediately intrigued, as he felt that this was a message from space. The random numbers and letters that the radio waves generate may look like gibberish to the untrained eye, but what Jerry saw was a sign.It is dubbed the Wow! signal, because Jerry was so impressed he wrote "Wow!" next to the message he circled. Apparently the signal that was received was stronger than normal, and appeared to resemble the frequency of hydrogen. Earlier scientists had hypothesized that if aliens were to try to contact us, it would be in either a mathematical or chemical format in order to catch our attention. When scientists attempted to find the source of the signal, they couldn't find anything in the direction it came from. They hypothesized that maybe the source had moved (UFO anyone?), but they have always been stumped as to why the signal has only appeared once.

Maybe the aliens are playing hard to get. You don't know their life.

No matter what you believe, you gotta admit that not everything can be explained. There are vast portions of the cosmos that have yet to be explored and could hold any number of answers for the unexplained things we experience. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go dig out my telescope.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
