If you've ever watched any movie with a plot involving the main character going off to college, you have seen the fake sorority life. Movies portray the partying, the craziness, and generally everything you expect college to be like. But movies don't show the truth about sororities. Here is everything that goes on in sorority life that you won't see in any movie.

1. "They will haze you."

Speaking on behalf of what I know, you won't be hazed. No matter what crazy stories you hear, we would rather build each other up than knock each other down.

2. "Sorority girls just join for parties."

We all aren't partiers, and if we are, what makes us different than the thousands of other college students who like to party? We really enjoy having a small night in with sisters.

3. "Sororities think they are entitled."

We truly work for everything we do in sorority and in outside work, school, and life in general. Elle Woods from "Legally Blonde" is our only hope in movies for an accurate representation of a successful sorority woman.

4. "They don't actually care for each other."

We do not put on a 'show' just to make it seem like we are friends. We really are friends and love to hang out with each other. Plus, Elle Woods' sorority sisters support is a pretty accurate representation of how our sisterhood really is.

5. "If you're in a sorority, you're dumb."

We put our education first. Most chapters have a minimum GPA requirement. We are determined to do well in school, and hell yes we have our sisters to support us.

6. "Sorority or cult?"

Yes, we do have things that cannot be spoken about outside of our chapter; no, that does not mean we are a cult. We are proud to be apart of one organization and that means being completely dedicated to how special that organization is.
