A lot of things have been oversimplified in the past few years. For instance, food has been majorly simplified with the creation of T.V. dinners and more fast food restaurants. Astrology is another idea that has been distorted throughout the years as media and technology become more and more accessible. You can read what your daily horoscope is on an app, a newspaper article, or even a magazine column. Social media accounts on Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr post what your sun sign would do/say/think in a certain situation.
But these sources for astrological findings are unreliable. Do you really think that just because your favorite magazine says that Capricorns will meet their soul mate today, you will? I see people checking their horoscopes daily on a sketchy iPhone app and living their lives by it, resulting in them missing chances and opportunities to truly live. You can’t read one post or article about your zodiac sign and say, “Ohmygod, that is so me!” because the reality is that a lot of other people can relate to it too, even if they are a different zodiac sign. Astrology in the media are just generalizations to get readers to buy more of what they are selling. And sometimes, the horoscopes simply don’t make sense at all.
People also use astrology to judge whether a person they have just met is compatible with them. “Oh, you’re an Aries? I’m sorry, this just won’t work.” It is so close-minded and shallow to throw away someone’s friendship (or more) based on a biased article you read about which zodiac signs you match with. Astrology also cannot be used to justify someone’s actions or feelings. “No wonder you’re crying; you’re a Cancer!” Please respect the person’s thoughts and feelings and do not generalize them into a category.
I’m not saying that astrology is a bunch of lies and mumbo-jumbo. I’m saying to be careful with what you are reading and where you are reading it. I don’t think a beauty magazine would be a good source for you to find your daily horoscope. A book written by a credited astrological author might be, however. If you want to learn more about genuine astrology, take the time to research in a library or credited websites. Dig deeper into your astrology chart. Astrology is fun; just don’t take it too seriously.
