Trusting God

We may not see Him, but he is there.

Trusting God

As Christians, we tend to label some bible verses as “generic.” The problem with this is there is no generic bible verse. God inspired these words to speak us, and it just happens that these “generic” bible verses tend to speak to the masses more than others. Instead of labeling these verses “generic” we should label them as “irreplaceable” or “unwavering.” Matthew 19:26 is one of those verses. It says "But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."

This bible verse is just as steady as our God. It explains that while something may be impossible to men all things are possible through God. This can be taken at the surface level of how God can help us through our everyday life when things seem to be going against us, or it can be taken as God can do wonders that we cannot even begin to comprehend because they are not possible to us. This verse is a reminder to us that God can work these amazing miracles in our lives if we will let Him. Just because we cannot reach something does not mean that God cannot reach it for us no matter how big or small.

My family has a lot of health issues. Our main health issues are found in our backs. I could list each and every one but it would take the rest of this article and I wouldn’t want to bore you with that. It started back when my whole family was in a terrible car accident. At the time, it seemed like the worst thing that could have happened to us, but God had a plan. We found out all the conditions that my brother had in his back that could have potentially paralyzed him if he got hit in the wrong place during football. After a year of treatment, the doctor told him he had done all he could do and that he would have to live with the pain. We felt shattered and helpless so we turned to God in prayer. After therapy and multiple trips to the chiropractor, the pain started to slowly go away and a year later when he went to the doctor he was shocked to find that my brother’s back was in amazing shape and he released him to play basketball and later football.

A few years down the road my dad was diagnosed with his back issues and had to have surgery right away so that he would not become paralyzed. The surgeon was not very optimistic. Again we felt hopeless and turned to God in prayer. While my dad is nowhere near able to walk without help, the important thing is that he can still walk. He may need a walker and a scooter, but he is not paralyzed. I have some of the problems that they have, and it does not look very good, but I have seen many miracles through God and I know that while it is not possible through man that God can take away our pain and regenerate our backs.

As a family, we have a favorite song that my mom would sing to us in church. The words say “when you cannot trace his hands, trust His heart.” This is what I will keep doing and I encourage you to keep trusting His heart.

Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
