Trusting God During Seasons of Curve Balls

Everything in life is going just as you planned, but what happens when a curve ball comes your way?

Trusting God During Seasons of Curve Balls

Most of us all have a tendency to micromanage our lives down to every single nitty gritty detail. We plan out each part of our lives and for some reason believe that we as fallen human beings know what's best. Then God throws us a little curve ball. Some of theses curve balls are small, annoying circumstances while other curve balls are life altering and just flat out hard.

How we respond to these curve balls is what's important. It's what transforms us into the men and women God created us to be... men and women who trust God without fail. But this is not always easy. In fact, it can actually be extremely tough. One has to surrender everything to Christ and let go of all pride. In these seasons of curve balls, its important to remember these few important things.

1. God makes all things come together for good.

Romans 8:28 reads, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." It's not always easy to see the good in every situation, especially when that situation is masked with pain and suffering. Eventually though, one is able to see that God can turn any situation into something beautiful for His glory.

2. God is our rock

Sometimes it takes a little slap in the face in order to get our hearts right with God. Every body knows the wise man built his house upon the rock but does every body live that out? No, because we are fallen and broken but luckily God is still there to carry us when our foolish selves build our houses on the sand. Isaiah 63:9 says, "In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the angel of His presence saved them; In His love and in His mercy He redeemed them, And He lifted them and carried them all the days of old." Personally, I am so thankful that even when my plans backfire, God is waiting to carry me through any trial or tribulation.

3. God knows what's best (SPOILER: We don't!)

Isiah 55:9 reads, "For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." I am the worst at trying to believe I know what's best for me more so than God does, but I am learning to rest easy knowing His plan for me is immeasurably better than I could ever imagine.

4. God's plan for us is full of hope and prosperity.

Jeremiah 29:11 states, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" How awesome is it to think that the One who created everything has planned out every detail of our lives? All we must do is fully trust in Him, even during the nastiest of curve balls.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
