Seeking God

Jesus is always near.

Many of us are surrounded by a new environment, are in need of a something, or are facing hardships of some sort. In these cases, we sometimes find ourselves losing our faith—this, however, is the last thing that we should do.

When troubled times arise, it is easy to turn to friends, trusted adults, etc., but what happens if your trusted sources aren’t available? What will happen then? Who will you turn to for help now? This is just one of the many bad experiences to encounter, and I’ve had my fair share of encountering them.

The answer to this question is to rely on the Word of God.

You may not fully understand what it is that you’re going through or why you’re going through it at the moment and, truth is, you may never know the reason. But, one truth that is always certain to happen is that those who seek God will always find an answer to their problems. There is always a way out, and God is always willing to lead His children toward victory.

Whether you are a college student, a working parent, or an independent individual, it is extremely difficult to balance your schedule while still tending to other obligations.

As Christ believers, Jesus instructs us to fully place our faith on Him alone.

The first step is stepping into faith—acknowledging who God is and believing who He says He is. Once you’ve done that, He will show you the right direction in life.

The thing is, God knows our needs and wants. He knows our fears as well. If there is ever something that we need or want, Jesus invites us to come to Him and simply ask for it. If it is within His power for you to receive what your heart desires, you can rest assured knowing that He will provide you with all that you need.

A lot of times, we may find ourselves in difficult situations because we surround ourselves with certain people who influence us in a negative way. If this is the case, do yourself a favor and separate yourself from whomever or whatever it is that you are not benefiting from.

Another factor that tends to lead us into disaster is the way we pursue life. Do you find yourself having a negative mindset in life? If so, then I encourage you to seek guidance from God to help you change that type of mindset.

Waiting on God takes time and patience, just like waiting for anything. Like many, I’ve waited days, months, or even years for something. During the wait, God was showing me the importance of waiting for Him. During the process of questioning about His timing, He reminded me, and still continues to remind me, that I will be taken care of.

God continuously opens up doors that no man can do for us. Regardless of what you’re encountering, always remember the one who is holding on to you.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
