I Voted For Clinton But Support Trump

I Voted For Clinton But Support Trump
New York Times

I am a proud American. I will forever stand by my country no matter what happens. We, as Americans, cannot let an election destroy us. We all have a common bond: our ancestors came to America for a better life, filled with dreams and possibilities. Some Americans dreamed GOP candidate Donald J Trump would be elected the next President of The United States. By most, it was deemed impossible. Yet, the impossible is always possible.

Democrats across the nation are horrified, some even want to move to Canada or their country of origin. Leaving America is the worst thing you could possibly do. How would you ever get your voice heard? You worked tirelessly these past 18 months to show your friends, family, colleagues, strangers, your thoughts matter and you want them heard. Would you actually be that hypocritical to leave our nation because you didn't get your way? Would you leave your family because you didn't get your way? Would you leave your job because you didn't get your way? This election wasn't about you! It was about us.

Secretary Clinton lost the 2016 Presidential Election after an extremely successful and hard fought campaign. It came as a shock to virtually every American in our nation. Everyone expected Clinton to win by a landslide, to blow away Trump, but at around 12AM Eastern Time, it became apparent, this election was way too close to call. At around 3AM, Donald Trump was named President Elect, surprising Republicans, Democrats, and third party members alike.

This election somewhat mimicked the 2000 election between oil tycoon and son of former President Bush, George W. Bush and Vice President Al Gore. Gore, like Clinton was a member of the same party as the current president. Additionally, like Gore, Clinton won the popular vote. It was the swing states, like Florida, where the electoral votes shifted the entire presidency. It was downhill as soon as the Sunshine State was officially called in favor of Trump.

So, many of us are currently sitting here thinking of what we are going to do. Move to Canada? Post threatening, unjust, and just plain ignorant posts on social media? YOU CAN'T DO THAT! Of course, yes, you have the absolute right under the first amendment of the Constitution to say what you want and have your voice heard, but making threats won't do anything. Saying offensive things, like the person you voted against, will actually portray you as a hypocrite.

I am a Democrat from New York. Secretary Clinton was obviously my vote. Without a doubt I am upset with the outcome, though I cannot say anyone is to blame! This election actually raised the voter turn out to around 4.7%! Believe it or not, 4.7% is HUGE! As a proud American, I stand by my fellow citizens and the decision, we as onenation, made together. I will support Trump's policies (if we ever find out what they exactly are), and maybe they'll actually be appealing unlike the infamous wall and ban on Muslims.

Donald J Trump is by no means the ideal future President, but before he even took office, before he was named the Republican candidate, before the numerous debates he took part in, he actually did something positive. He had Americans become interested in politics! More American's watched the debates, took a stance. More millennial's registered to vote, find a candidate they support, and even had them just discussing the future of our nation. President Obama couldn't achieve this, nor could Romney, McCain, Clinton. The only one who came comparably close to luring in the young voters was Senator Bernie Sanders, the other democratic nominee who would succumb to Clinton.

President Obama campaigned heavily for Clinton, more than any sitting President ever has for a member of his party. Last night he made a quote which will be one of the many us Americans will remember and live by for a lifetime. "No matter what, the sun will rise in the morning." And so it did. Congratulations to President Elect Donald J. Trump, you have managed to achieve lifelong politicians dream of becoming President of The United States of America. To Secretary Clinton, you have proven to be one of the strongest ladies and figures in American politics. As Trump said "We owe her a major debt of gratitude for the service she did for our country."

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
