President Donald Trump addressed all Congress members with the State of the Union.
What is that?
Simply put, a State of the Union address is meant for the President to annually update both parties in Congress.
It fulfills Article II, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution that the President has to periodically update both sides of Congress on where the country stands financially and address certain plans or issues.
Isn't that what my parents watch on Fox News?
Hopefully, they just watched Megyn before she moved to the Today Show.
What does this mean for me, though? I'm still in college. I don't think that much about the workforce or people on welfare yet.
1. More jobs
If things are going the way President Trump says they are, which is highly likely due to his experience as a businessman, this means more jobs are available to you when you graduate in the next year or two.
2. A promising president
This is a man who continues to follow through with every promise to the American people he made during election season, and he isn't done. While I personally disagree with comments he has made towards certain groups of people, he is doing what he promised, and he is proud to announce how quickly the job is getting done.
3. Less of your friends and their parents are on welfare than ever before
This is a big conservative republican ideal, but it serves everyone righteously. We have the lowest numbers of unemployment among African- and Hispanic-Americans in history, and the lowest of White Americans in a few decades.
This is saying something huge! Working and earning things for yourself is praiseworthy and outstanding. The more you can become self-reliant and not stand to wait for handouts, the more independent and successful you will become.
Oh, sweet! When is his next address?
It will not be until next year, but continue to track the President as you see human mistakes and triumphs made. Then, when it is time for the 2019 address, you can trust what you hear.
