I Didn't Vote For President Trump, But Here's How My Opinion Of Him Has Changed Since The Election

Sometimes first impressions aren't always right.

President Trump Swearing In

In This Article:

President Trump will go down as one of, if not the most, controversial POTUS to date, and for good reason. His decision to run for President and his campaign alone shocked the nation and sent people into a frenzy. He doesn't seem to care what anyone thinks of him but oddly seems to care what everyone is saying about him.

I truly cannot imagine the pressure of being the leader of the free world. The endless decisions he has to make, the sleepless nights, and the constant criticism have to take such a toll on this man. My question is, who cares? He is the one who chose to run for POTUS, he is the one who makes the racist and idiotic remarks that cause people to dislike him so greatly, he is the one that did this to himself.

As you may be able to tell already, I have not grown to like this man in the slightest.

In fact, I have grown to dislike this man even more than before. There is little to no reason he should've been able to run for this position, let alone become POTUS. He was barely qualified at the time of announcing his campaign and ended up winning against arguably the most qualified candidate to ever run for POTUS, Hilary Clinton. Obviously, she has her flaws, but C'MON people, how did we let this happen?

Watching his blatant disregard for any walks of life besides wealthy white males among other things is truly barbaric and simply disheartening as a citizen of this nation. We, as a nation, managed to elect an official to run our nation who has been accused of sexual assault by over a dozen women, infidelity, and a man who tells constant lies to the public become the leader of our nation.

Nice defense, Donald! Everyone totally believes you now! Not. We absolutely should not believe a word this man says. According to the Washington Post, in the first 649 days of his presidency alone, President Trump told the public 6,420 false or misleading claims. So much for "fake news" when it's coming from the man who coined the term.

Narcissist (noun):

nar·cis·sist

a person who has an excessive interest in or admiration of themselves.

Just thought I'd throw that in there. Anyway, did I mention he was responsible for the longest government shutdown in history because he didn't get what he wanted and threw a tantrum? Beginning on December 22nd, 2018, President Trump decided to shut down the U.S. Government upon not receiving funding for his border security wall he wants to be built on the southern border of the U.S. as soon as possible. This wall was a major promise in his campaign in 2016 when he claimed he would make the Mexicans pay for it to keep themselves from entering our country illegally. (no seriously anyone that actually believed that was going to happen, I'm worried about you). After not receiving funding for this wall and starting the government shutdown, denying thousands of government workers their paychecks, he continued to throw a hissy fit for over a month. The shutdown eventually ended on January 25th, 2019.

Moving on, regarding the wall, President Trump believes that the best and ONLY effective way to keep illegal immigrants out of our country from the southern border is to build a wall. He has claimed that the people coming into our country from Mexico are "rapists," "drug dealers," and "criminals," when in fact, the numbers for these crimes in the U.S. are dominantly U.S. citizens. The wall is estimated to cost billions of dollars for construction and labor. If Mexico is not paying for it, the U.S. taxpayers aren't paying for it, and the U.S. Government won't give him the funding he wants so badly, how is he planning on building this wall?

There are very few things to like about this man. Perhaps you can find one? No? Me neither. Since becoming the leader of our nation, my dislike for this man has only increased. He has gotten away with far too much since becoming POTUS, and I hope to see repercussions for his actions in the near future.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
