If Trump Wins

A Brief Look into Americas Bleak Future

If Trump Wins
americaslastdays.blogspot.com

Looking back at the past year of America’s political dealings, we have seen the unimaginable, unfathomable, and utterly terrifying rise of Republican candidate for President Donald Trump. With the election being a about a month out, it’s about time that America starts asking itself if it can handle a Trump presidency. While there has been much speculation in the media on whether or not he’ll actually win, but no one has seemed to put forth any predictions on what the next four years might look like if Donald Trump is commander and chief. Therefore, I’d like to give just a few examples of what our great country could become if Donald J. Trump is elected President of the United States.

The first scenario of Trump’s America sees the U.S. in a bit of an economic mess. Since he sees himself as a business man, Trump would more than likely run the country as a business. The only issue with that strategy is that Trump seems to not know a lot about business. Granted, my business portfolio is non-existent, but I think understand a few things about the craft. For instance, I know that if you've declared bankruptcy more than three times, then you can’t be considered a good business man. So one question that comes to mind when thinking of a Trump presidency is “What happens if he bankrupts the country?” If you're ever done any research on bankruptcy, you’d find that a company that goes under either refinances to try to become profitable once more, or stops operating immediately and losses all its assets to those who have stakes in it. This means that if while on his journey to “Make America Great Again” Donald Trump feels overwhelmed by the job, it is very possible that he defaults on the country and leaves the rest of us to be torn apart by all the people and countries that the government owes money to. A future that leaves America looking most like the thirteen districts in the “Hunger Games.”

The second scenario of a Trump presidency sees America being destroyed from the inside. During Trumps campaign, he promised a lot of things. Deportation of all illegal immigrants, restoring law and order, banning all Muslims from the country, and a whole slew of other seemingly impossible promises. Now as is the case with most politicians, he probably won't be able to keep any of these promises. The only problem is that his voters aren't the type of people that take being lied too easily. If Trump doesn't make good on those promises, you can almost guarantee that these voters will react in a violent way. Riots in every Republican state as people demanding the change that they voted for. And when they are denied, all that anger that has been stirred up over the past year finally explodes. The havoc they wreak on the country will be more devastating than the Civil War, and more permanent as well. This future has America most resembling the TV series “Mr. Robot”, only with a lot less hacking and a lot more explosions.

The third and final scenario of a Trump presidency sees America just as Trump promised it would be. An America that has returned to the golden age of the 1950's. The illegal immigrants have been deported. All the Muslims have either been banned or marked with symbols that make them targets for other citizens. Blacks and legal Hispanics no longer live in Hell, but in a worse, more vicious area where they are stopped and frisked on every corner and can't go outside without being profiled or harmed by police. Members of the LGBTQ rights have been completely obliterated by the work of Vice President Mike Pence, forcing them to hide their identities just like in the good old days. Pence has also destroyed the rights of women, taking away everything from their right to abortion as well as sexual safety measures which makes both cases of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases skyrocket. Our military is buffed up beyond imagine, but at the cost of our education, infrastructure, and economy. To sum it all up, President Trump would bring about an era that combines the worst moments in human history together, destroying us, our democracy, and the entire ideal that this country stood for. Think of the movie “Escape L.A.” and then multiply it by infinity.

While it may seem a bit overkill, I truly believe that each of these scenarios is a possibility in a world where Donald Trump is president. No matter what he would do, the result would be catastrophic for America and possibly the world. I don't know about you, but I really don't want to gamble on any of these scenario's. So to all voters, consider what our future will look like with president Trump before Nov. 8th. Think about whether or not you can live through four years of the apocalypse.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
