I Voted For Trump Despite How Much I Hate Him

I Voted For Trump Despite How Much I Hate Him

I argued with myself long and hard on whether I wanted to post this article or not. On one hand, politics are important to me, but on the other, I am sick of this election. I hate both our options, despise them both with a passion, to be more accurate. I feel like crying when I remember these are the two options I have. I decided I wanted my opinion heard, so I early voted and posted this article.

I voted in the primary, and the feeling of voting this time was totally different. When I voted in the primary, I was practically bouncing up and down in excitement. I waited with my Nana in the line that was mainly full of people about her age to cast my first vote for the Republican candidate. I debated on who to vote for because I liked Carson's politics better, but I did not want Trump in office. This led to an excited vote for Ted Cruz because I approved of him, and wanted nothing more than to keep it from coming down to Trump vs. Clinton.

To my disappointment, that is exactly what happened. I watched the political news sighing every time a new story broke. I dreaded having to vote for one of the two because I knew against the two Trump was the one whose political beliefs matched most closely with mine. Eventually, early voting came. I got a ride home with a friend and went to vote with Nana, again. On the way there, I told her just how much I did not want either of them to be president. She sighed and agreed with me but said something that made my vote for Trump easier. She said that she heard a quote from Oprah, in support of Clinton, saying something along the lines of, "You're not voting for them. You're voting for the Supreme Court justices they are putting into office."

So I went into the election office in a different mood than my first vote. I slowly made my way through that line full of people older than me with dread. When it was finally my turn, I walked into that booth, plugged my nose, and voted for Trump as quickly as I could. I wanted to get the ripping a band-aid off effect.

This president is going to get to put new Supreme Court justice in office, and although I don't truly think Trump is as conservative as he claims, he is more likely to put conservative justices on the Supreme Court. This is why despite my dislike and disdain for Trump, I voted for him.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
