On November 9th Trump was announced to be the next President of the United States of America. A lot of U.S. citizens were devastated at the shocking results because they thought Trump was certain to lose the election. I remember I stayed up till about 1:30 AM and fell asleep, but I kept waking up to see if they had the final results of the election. Finally at 3:00 AM, I woke up for a fifth time and saw that he won. I had no energy for a reaction because I was too tired to even continue watching. I see some people are giving Trump the benefit of the doubt, and on Saturday Night Live, Dave Chappell hosted and said he was willing to give Trump a chance.
I would really like to give Trump a chance. Really, I would like to, but it’s very difficult to try and look over the things he has said during the Presidential race. Racist comments, making fun of a disabled man, grabbing women by the…. It’s hard to see past that. I’ve heard some say that they agree his words have been harsh, but they will wait and see what he does during his presidency. I’ve heard many times before if someone shows you who they are, believe them. Trump is now electing representatives to work besides him, but they are white supremacist. It’s not looking too good so far. People who are for Trump really have no clue about what this country is about in today’s society. The fact that people from different countries moved here and worked hard to make a living, helped build this country to what it is.
For the evangelicals that voted for him because they believe so much in what he stands for, I personally believe is selfish. Without a second thought of the well being of Muslims, without a second thought of the well being of Mexicans, without the thought of the well being of Blacks. Did you think that they deserve a chance of fairness in this country? A chance to live, and a chance to survive? What happened to love one another as you love yourselves? I think Trump will show us his actions, and it will match his words.
