This year’s presidential election is one that won’t be forgotten, considering the interesting line up of candidates. Many of the Republican candidates have dropped out, including Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Carly Fiona, Ted Cruz and more. This leaves Donald Trump as the main Republican candidate. While on the other hand, the Democratic Party only had two candidates to begin with who are both still in the race; Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders is said to be the more favorable of the two, while Donald Trump is seen to be the most hated of all candidates. Can it be that the two have initiated an interest in a debate?
Bernie Sanders has been looking for a debate to participate in before the California primary on June 7th. His first choice was Hillary Clinton, but everyone has seen the two debate numerous times, so the Senator has laid eyes on Donald Trump instead. Many say this move is a means to help his campaign, but aren’t all debates? The Democratic candidate has more to gain from this debate than to lose. If you really ponder upon it, the constituents of both parties hardly know anything about the opposing party. For example, a Republican supporter will only tune into Republican debates and vice versa with Democratic supporters. Both of them are ignorant on the opposite party, so the inter-debate between the clashing parties can make or break a candidate’s campaign.
As the idea of this debate was taken into legit consideration, Donald Trump changed his mind a bit. But Bernie was all for the debate- and still is.
While on the other hand, Donald Trump has pleaded for ten million dollars for this debate to go through. But then again, what else would you expect from a businessman? Businessmen cannot merge into politics, it’s like having your surgeon be a real-estate agent; it doesn’t make sense.
In order for this debate to possibly go through, Bernie has started a movement on the homepage of his campaign website, asking visitors to sign up with their email if they’re interested in having a debate between Trump and Sanders, and also how many would actually tune into it.
Many Trump supporters as well as Trump himself believe he doesn’t even need this possible debate for his campaign. According to Trump, he has already secured the Republican Party Presidential Nomination.
Though he’s the only one left in the Republican Party for the race, there’s a chance that he may not gain the nomination let alone the presidential position, in the end it’s all up to the delegates as well as the Electoral College. Many Republican leaders have expressed a plea for Speaker of the House Paul Ryan to take up a position in the race, but the Speaker refuses to do so, claiming that it’s unfair to those who have been campaigning for the past several months.
