There has been much debate about the current front runner in the Republican Party. Some believe Trump would is the ideal candidate for Presidency, while others cringe at the thought that he is leading the race by over 20 percent.
Many of us can agree that Trump doesn't have the most traditional Republican views. Take healthcare, for example. The Republican platform does not believe in Obamacare, and does not find it to be beneficial to our country. Trump, on the other hand, believes that single-payer health care has worked well in the past for countries such as Canada and Scotland. However, he did argue in the first debate that the time for that has come and gone in America, and that in this day and age, we should be implementing a private system.
When we look at the concept of immigration, Trump has similar views, but is more aggressive. The Republican platform believes that illegal immigrants need to return home voluntarily, while Trump has been known to say that he believes the illegal immigrants should be deported by our government.
Trump also believes that funding for Planned Parenthood should not be cut. Which opposes the Republican platform.
Now where do Trump's views align with the Republican platform?
For this we look towards same-sex marriage, and gun rights. Trump opposes the practice of same-sex marriage, even though he has attended a few gay weddings. On the topic of gun rights, Trump is claimed to be a life member of the NRA, and strongly supports what they believe in when it comes to protecting our rights to bear arms.
It has been rumored that Trump is going to release his decision about moving to a third party some time this week. For now, it's up to us Republicans to decide if this is truly who we want for our candidate.
