The Trump Experience

Millennial learns about Donald Trump

13
The Trump Experience

Unlike the average American I have not taken a position on who to vote for in the upcoming presidential election. The reason I had not taken a side was due to the outrageous amount of negative or positive publicity for specific candidates. It's very well known that Trump seems to be the most hated candidate by the millennials (my generation), Bernie Sanders has grown to be the most loved, and Hillary Clinton is the infamous candidate that is thought to deserve to be in jail.

After months of hearing these numerous opinions I finally decided to attend a rally. I attended a Trump Rally specifically. Before having attended the rally I thought that I was in for a rowdy dangerous event but it was much less nerve wrecking then suspected. The first step of getting in the rally was going through a long security process, filled with police, bomb squad, and even secret service agents.

Before

It was clearly obvious that the rally was mostly filled with Trump supporters with numerous Trump posters, shirts, and even hats that showed recognition. However before the rally began it was announced that there had been protesters within previous rallies. The audience was told to shout Trump in the case of a protester, to get the protester removed.

During

Within the rally, when Trump initially made an entrance the crowd went crazy. The arena rang with sounds of chanting TRUMP and BUILD A WALL. Trump mainly touched upon the topics of illegal immigrants, trade, and job security. However there were three protesters who disturbed the rally atmosphere and were kicked out immediately. Trump joked about them being terrible individuals.

After

Walking out of the rally felt like leaving a prison camp. There were thousands of people all trying to leave the same way and it was nearly single file line. But the more interesting part of the day was what went on outside of the rally. There were tons of young protesters against trump. Helicopters were flying around announcing that people could be arrested. Trump supporters and haters were fighting with one another. I left as quickly as possible.

Overall

I've now learned that Trump has both good and negative qualities just like every other presidential candidate, but the difference is that now I can make a true judgment after listening to what he has to offer. I believe that before making a decision we should try to learn about all candidates. And without a doubt millennials must share their voice

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
