A lot of people know Robert De Niro as Jack Byrnes, Gaylord "Greg" Focker's future father-in-law in Meet the Parents. Greg Focker looked to propose to his girlfriend, Pam Byrnes, and was immediately greeted by awkwardness by the airline losing the engagement ring Greg was going to propose to Pam with. Ben Stiller's character never seemed to impress Robert De Niro's character; Jack takes an instant dislike towards Greg and openly criticized anything that seemed idiosyncratic to him and his family, namely being a male nurse.
De Niro takes on more of a powerful role in Casino as Sam "Ace" Rothstein, a gambling handicapper assigned to oversee day-to-day operations at the Tangier's casino in Las Vegas, and asserts himself as a smart man who could take advantage of gaming laws that allow him to work in casinos while his gaming license is pending. During this period, he doubles the casino's profits.
His further personality is revealed in this defining moment in the 1995 film:
De Niro's attitude towards John Bloom's character (Donald Ward), and later his firing of Ward, is something De Niro has shown no secret towards regarding Donald Trump.
Robert De Niro made a speech during the Tony awards two Sundays ago and upped the ante on his rhetoric, if anything, from "Down with Trump" to "F*** Trump!" This came on the heels of Trump slighting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other G7 leaders for the President's idiotic behavior (showing up late to the breakfast meeting discussing gender equality, leaving early to meet with Kim Jong Un and not signing a communique), to name some idiotic behavior that De Niro called "a disgrace" and "disgusting."
Not surprisingly, Trump fired back with a Tweet of his own, calling him "low IQ" (he's called Maxine Waters and Mika Brzezinski this before) and "got knocked out by a few real boxers in movies."
Are you sure you want to take on this guy?
At least his casinos never went bankrupt...
