While walking to and from class in these single digit temperatures, I cannot help but wonder what it would have been like to go to school somewhere warm, maybe even hot! I wonder what it's like to be able to feel your body when you're outside. I wonder what it's like to not have winter accessories all over your dorm. Well, Truman has certainly given me the gift that keeps on giving. An invincible shell, that is. For the treks to and from class because snow or not, we're having class. Class, as in an hour of a Professor assigning homework for every hour of the day- all 24 of them.
1. "Is the sun out today?"
Seriously. I have forgotten what this thing looks like! It's been weeks.
2. *Making it to class with 1 minute to spare, wearing a million layers*
Real hot, let me tell ya.
3. "It's snowing!"
Like, every day.
4. "Will this protect my face from the wind?"
5. "I'm just going to close my eyes for 10 minutes."
You're right. What was I thinking? A break? Unheard of!
6. *Taking the ski gear off when you get home*
The coat. The boots. The scarf. The hat. The gloves. The second pair of gloves. The socks. The second pair of socks.
7. Professor: "And the 5-page paper will be due..."
Tomorrow, of course!
8. "Are you going to the Rec?"
In these conditions? Are you kidding me!?
9. "Do you have plans tonight?"
Nope.
10. "Help! Where's the warmth?"
Won't lie. I've strongly considered.
If I wasn't on a college budget, I'd be on the first flight out tonight, and let's be clear- it can be anywhere above 32 degrees. On the bright side, summer is only about five months away, and I am positive the sun will meet us there. Until then, I will be in my dorm under six blankets, watching "Friends."
