Michael Cera has a new album and it's almost as surprising as Beyoncé’s stunt with her album.
We know he has talent, not only acting, but also playing instruments -- but, who would have thought he could sing? Arrested Development and Superbad star, Michael Cera, has just released an album singing songs. It’s not a joke. It’s as legit as legit can be.
The album is called “True That” and it’s really good, not surprisingly. If you’re a huge Michael Cera fan like myself then it’s probably no news to you that he has impeccable talent when it comes to music. If you aren’t that big of a fan and this is news to you, please take some time out of your day to watch “Juno” and, most importantly, “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.” The surprising thing about this album, though, is that he is singing his own songs, and not many people are aware of these singing abilities. The world has only ever heard him sing in “Juno” along side his co-star, Ellen Page. The, now, “triple threat” was interviewed by The Daily Beast and stated that his surprise album closely resembles the whole theme of Beyoncé’s surprise album. Now, I think we can all admit that Cera is definitely not Beyoncé, but there is definitely quite a difference in each of their surprising albums. We know Bey can sing, so Cera’s surprise is it a little bit more unbelievable.
Some songs are a little weird on the “True That” album. For example, “What Gives (…I can’t live like this)” and “Sexy Danger.” But there are some cool, folky songs on there. Some include “Ruth” and a Blaze Foley cover of “Clay Pigeons.” This album isn’t for everyone though. If you’re not into the whole folk/indie/alternative scene then you will most definitely hate each and every song and think Michael Cera is absolutely horrific with his musical abilities. Then there are the people who are into this type of music and will think this is God’s early Christmas gift to you or something.
Granted, I’m really into the whole folk/indie/alternative rock scene, but personally there were only a couple songs on there that I could see myself downloading. Nevertheless anyone who’s interested should check it out. You be the judge!
