No matter if you love it or hate it, coffee is an essential part of many people's lives. A study at Harvard explained that 54% of adults drink coffee, this isn't including a number of teenagers who drink coffee each morning. So why is it, that so many people like to drink coffee in the morning or choose it as their go to beverage for a quick energy boost when there are healthier options of drinks?

While there are a few health benefits there is also just the true delight of having something to warm you up on the inside during a cold winter's morning, or an ice cold coffee after a trip to the beach during the summer. Just the smooth, refreshing you get from it is enough to drink it often. You can't forget about the variety of things you can do to alter the way your coffee tastes. From pouring in milk and sugar to the large selection of creamers to flavor your coffee with, each cup can be a different experience. Having coffee is also one of the best ways to meet and go on dates with people as it is a short amount of time and the only thing to focus on is the other person. Plus, if you are having a terrible time you can finish your coffee quickly and flee the scene.

There aren't only short term reasons to enjoy coffee there are actually quite a few health benefits from drinking this delightful beverage. First of all, plain black coffee is very low in calories, equalling about two calories for an eight-ounce cup. Of course adding sugar, milk, and other creamers to your coffee increase the amount of calories in a cup. Not only is plain black coffee extremely low in calories the average human body is able to handle at least six cups of coffee a day. Although this is not recommended, having that second or third cup of coffee is nothing to feel guilty about. Coffee can also help lower the risk of heart disease, the risk of having a stroke, the development of type two diabetes, protection from gallstones, and the development of Parkinson's disease.

Coffee is one of the superhero drinks and often receives criticism as being very unhealthy for you. Even though it is a much smarter choice of drink in the morning over juice, water will always be the best for the human body.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
