True Friends Are Found When You Are Truly Broken

Life is meant to be filled with fellowship, you just have to find the right people.

Everyone has hit that low point in their life. It's a point where you feel the most isolated and sometimes unlovable. You so badly desire a person to be close to you again, somebody to tell you that it's going to be okay. You desire for someone to have your back more than ever. It's in the moment of weakness that you realize the person is right in front of you. In fact, they are right around the corner from you.

Little did I know that when I met you at 18, you would play such a major role in my life. Throughout college, we were the same major and even graduated within months of each other. We have a lot in common. In fact, we are the exact same MBTI personalities. I think we have always been more closely tied to each other then we are willing to admit. You see, life has not only thrown punches at me, but they have been tossed your way too.

It's interesting how we are very much alike. Literally, it's like we were a match made in our own little kitty obsessed heaven. Life always has an interesting turn though. I didn't see the true value in our friendship until I welcomed the low point in my life. My reality as I knew it was dissolving and I felt isolated. You happened to move back into town at the most perfect moment. I like to think of you as my saving grace.

At the moment that I was most weak, you took me into your home. You saw that I needed to be nurtured and you were willing to open your arms. To be honest, I just needed a simple hug. It's funny how you spend so many years with someone, but you don't feel close to them until you are the furthest away. You moving back to town and being my roommate has been glorious.
Once I saw your sweet dance moves and your Disney obsessed ways, I knew I needed to snatch you up. Girl! I am so glad that we walked into each other's lives.

I'm so grateful that you've held some tears, but I'm even more grateful that you let me eat Oreos for breakfast when life sucked. You are the best mermaid ever. When the sun sets, the night is always full of laughter. I'll miss you budging into my room and going through my closet trying everything on possible. You are my own personal entertainer. Don't even get me started on tucking you in. We are two young cat ladies who happen to be enjoying their best lives together.

Thanks for keeping me safe and giving me time to get back on my feet. This summer was the perfect medicine and I'm so glad that you were with me every step of the way. Since I couldn't bear the thought of being more than five minutes away from you, I thought I would just sign a lease next door. You're going to be one great neighbor and I can't wait to have more memories with you. I hope that everyone finds their saving grace like I found you.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
