I am a true crime fanatic. I am interested and fascinated with true crime and watch all things true crime. I listen to true crime podcasts, read books, and so forth. But these three documentaries are hands-down my favorites on Netflix.
1. "The Ripper"
My first suggestion is currently trending number four in the top ten in the U.S. - "The Ripper." Directed by Ellena Woods and Jesse Vile, this docuseries is about the Yorkshire Ripper and his victims. They describe the victims' lives before the ups and downs of the police investigation, and the public's reaction to the Ripper's five-year rampage. No reenactments, real footage, and interviews with those directly associated with the case. Rating: 9/10
2. "The Confession Killer"
Robert Kenner and Taki Oldham directed this rollercoaster docuseries with real footage and interviews with those involved with the case. They were able to make the audience believe one thing and then completely flip it around. The man that the series is about is Henry Lee Lucas. He was the suspect of interest for two missing women but ends up confessing to about 600 murders. "The Confession Killer" just may be the most notorious killer alive. Rating: 8.5/10
3. "Evil Genius: The True Story of America's Most Diabolical Bank Heist"
Barbara Schroeder directs this docuseries with real footage and interviews that started as a mystery and ended with new mysteries. The Netflix summary provided: "A bank robbery in Pennsylvania ends in the bombing death of a pizza deliveryman who may or may not have been a hostage forced to commit the crime." Rating: 8/10
