Going through recruitment can be one of the most nerve-racking things for everyone, on both sides of the spectrum.
Girls going through recruitment are nervous that sororities won’t accept them, and sorority women want every girl to walk out of their rounds feeling like they found a home away from home.
The pressure to conform to the group and be something you're not is an aspect we confront during the recruitment process. We want
everyone to like us, even if that means smiling and nodding our heads the whole
time, pretending.
If the whole point of rush is finding your home away
from home, and creating bonds greater than yourself, then why would you want to
be anything else but who you are?
There is a reason we extend a bid from a
particular sorority, to a particular girl. People join people. There is no reason to embrace
anything other than the 100 percent real you. By all of us being true to ourselves, and avoiding being fake, we can
be sure that everyone will find the perfect family.
In the end, we are all in this together -- distinct chapters
that make up one spectacular Greek community!
