Troye Sivan's Suburbia Tour in NYC

Troye Sivan performed a sold-out concert at Terminal 5 and it was the most amazing thing I've seen.

If someone were to tell me a while back that I was going to see Troye Sivan in concert I wouldn't believe them. On November 14, I went to Troye Sivan's sold-out concert in New York City. For the past couple of months, my friends and I were debating whether or not to go but since more than half of us couldn't afford a ticket and transportation, we decided not to. However, one my friends really wanted to see Troye for such a long time so about a month ago, I decided to surprise her with tickets. Even though not all our friends were able to go, the two of us decided to make the most out of it.

Since it was both our first time seeing him perform, we didn't really know what to expect. To think that he went from YouTuber to singer overnight fascinated me. Due to his previous Youtube channel, he already had a fanbase, so I wasn't surprised to see that he sold out Terminal 5 (3,000 people capacity).

My friend and I decided to go up to the third-floor balcony in order to avoid the chaos of the general admission pit (we also wanted an incredible view from above). Seconds before Troye got on stage, the crowds' cheers intensified due to their excitement. The show opened up with "WILD," and seeing him perform one of my favorite songs from his album made me so happy. From there, he sang the majority of his current album "Blue Neighbourhood."

I was amazed by how the stage looked throughout the entire show. There were four/five screens which lit up and showed different visuals for different songs. There were also a couple of songs that started off with Troye doing voiceovers before the music began.

Troye had so much energy throughout the entire show every single person in the audience was dancing and singing along to every song. It was incredible to see his stage presence too. He danced around like no one was watching him and he didn't care if he was embarrassing himself.

Throughout the show, he would interact with the crowd. From talking to a girl that was on FaceTime with someone at the show to having the crowd sing happy birthday to a girl, he shared several adorable moments with a few people.

He talked about his first time performing in New York City about a year ago, and how amazing i was to see that one of the first songs he released created this whole movement. From there he performed that song which was "Happy Little Pill."

Once that song ended, he told the audience that after this tour, he was considering retiring from music. That was a sad thing to hear since he only released one album. The show ended with "Youth," which got popular when it began playing on the radio. Everyone sang along as if it wasn't the end of the night.

I am glad that I was able to go see Troye perform live. I honestly cannot wait for him to create more music. Troye Sivan is an amazing performer and human being, whose lyrics are so powerful. I definitely recommend checking his music out when you get the chance.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
