To The People That Want To Leave America If A Certain Candidate Wins The Presidential Election

To The People That Want To Leave America If A Certain Candidate Wins The Presidential Election

I have read on multiple accounts that younger United States citizens are willing to move countries if a certain candidate is elected as President. Not only are those claims ridiculous, but they are driving me insane! Before I go crazy in my introduction, here are the reasons why I do not like the "I will change countries" posts.

First off, are you serious? I am positive you have the ideal country in mind, so let me ask you these few questions about your decision to move. Have you made a plan of how you will travel, live, and work in this country? Are they an English speaking society, and if not, have you learned how to speak, read, or at least understand some of their native language? I ask this one, because not all countries are going to have those nice citizens that point you in the correct direction like they do on those great commercials of people using their travel points to find something extravagant. Is this country sufficient to the lifestyle you have here in the United States? Lastly, are you prepared to leave everything behind you?

Now, I am placing no judgement if you have several of these questions figured out. I wish you the best of luck if your candidate does not get elected president, and you do decide to move. I sincerely hope you find all the happiness in the world. I just have a hard time believing so many people when they say they are just going to move away.

Another reason I have a difficult time grasping this concept is because of all the folks that said they were going to leave if President Obama became elected for a second term. Where did they go? They did not leave the country, at least not the ones that posted that, and it showed up on my Facebook. Honestly, I was too young to have voted in the last presidential election, and it is not like living situations changed so drastically that my family nor myself had to leave this wonderful country.

One of my last points is that Americans do not understand how well we have it here. I asked my Russian boyfriend about this situation. He said that Americans are spoiled. In the part of Russia where he is from, people have to work very, very hard to have a decent life for their families. Most families are military families, and it is just now becoming more common for the younger generation to not go into the military. Most families live in apartments, and they generally walk to most destinations. I know I would have trouble adjusting to that kind of lifestyle. I want to be a teacher, and in Russia, teachers make a whole lot less money than they do here in America.

My overall point in this article is to show that I appreciate the life I have here in America. Yes, I disagree with some policies, but I am not willing to up and leave because a certain candidate will be elected president. For starters, I do not have the kind of money to support myself. I could not handle being so far away from my family and my home, and I am pretty sure I can adapt to whomever gets elected as President. Of course, if you feel like you cannot adapt to change and you do decide move, I wish you the best of luck. I am sorry that America was not the place for you.
