If you are anything like me, you love to travel with your friends to new places. We know spring break is a great opportunity in doing so. However, it can get really expensive. I know over the past three years of being in college I've shelled out over hundreds of dollars on my spring break trips. Don't get me wrong, they were well worth it, however, there must be a way to still have fun and not spend too much money. Here, I wanted to share some advice and ideas in order to not spend crazy amounts of money this spring break, but still have a ton of fun.
Pretend you're a tourist.
I know in my hometown of Fort Lauderdale there are many tourist attractions that I haven't even thought about going to. A good and inexpensive idea for spring break could be to look up local Air Bnbs in your city and pick a weekend to stay there with your friends. Search the top ten tourist attractions in your city and try to hit all of them. Sounds like a great idea for a "staycation."
Minnie Springs
Located right outside of Gainesville, Ginnie Springs Resort is a perfect place to go camping with friends or family and enjoy the beautiful crystal clear waters of the springs. They offer activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and a 15 foot cave called the Devil's Eye. You can also rent tubes if you just want to relax in the sun.
A Mission Trip
Here at Florida State University, there are tons of opportunities to get involved and better our community. Participating in a mission trip and going to places like Peru or Ecuador not only is a great opportunity to do some good for the community but also meet new people at FSU.
Providence Canyons
If you plan on spending your spring break in Tallahassee because of work, Providence State Canyons is only about a 2 and 1/2 hour drive away from Tallahassee. Here, you can hike the trails and camp the night there. It is a beautiful spot for some outdoor activities.
