While we were all out enjoying the snow, something tragic happened: the roof of the beloved Wayne Lanes Bowling Alley collapsed. Luckily, no one was physically injured in this catastrophe; however, many people were very upset.
Wayne Lanes is a bowling alley that is located in Waynesboro, Virginia and has been a place of wonderful memories and fun for so many people over the years. The cause of this horrific incident is still unknown, but it has left these beloved lanes unbowlable. As the news of the collapse of the roof and one wall spread, there was an immediate response from the public to restore it as quickly as possible. People from Waynesboro and many of the surrounding counties love to head down to Wayne lanes for a night of bowling, whether it be several nights a week or a yearly tradition. This is no ordinary bowling alley, as it provides bowlers with a much cheaper option. Whether you are a pro bowler or a total amateur, Wayne Lanes has been great for everyone.
So, while we await word on the future of this bowling oasis, let's take a minute and reminisce on all of the great things that Wayne Lanes has brought us over the years. It has been a place where families of all ages and sizes can gather to bowl and bond together. It has been a place where college kids can go to take a quick road trip out of town and bowl (and afford it!). It has been a place where competitive bowlers can gather and play the game that they love. It has been a place where friends can grab a bite to eat and bowl while catching up. It is a place to bring people of all ages and entertain them for hours. Wayne Lanes is a place for everyone, a place of fun, competition, relaxation, bonding, and overall, joy.
As Wayne Lanes deals with the cleanup and recovery of this horrible incident, I think it is pretty safe to say that many bowlers of all levels will be missing this classic hangout spot. There has been a GoFundMe page created to raise money for the revival of Wayne Lanes, and it can be accessed here.
