A Tribute To Neshaminy High School

I miss my alma mater more than I thought I would.

Looking back, I would never have thought that I would miss my former high school as much as I do. From Friday night football games to the incredible teachers, and of course Gym Night, here are just a few of the things that are unique to the Neshaminy experience:

Gym Night

Being a part of Gym Night was the best experience of my four years at Neshaminy High School. There is nothing that brought the school closer together than the exhausting late night practices, incredibly well made costumes and the suspenseful relays. Gym Night weekend was probably the most physically draining weekend out of the year, yet the most memorable. The countless hours that the captains spent choreographing a 10-12 minute dance as well as the parents who make the gorgeous costumes by hand are forever greatly appreciated. Watching the dances on YouTube is simply not the same as the rush of participating. Although I may have complained about those late practices, I want nothing more than to be able to dance with my school one last time. I wish the best of luck to both the red and blue teams (especially red) in the many years to come.

School District Rivalries

No matter how many friends we have in different school districts, we still hate a part of them because they do not go to Neshaminy. You know it is a big game day when you hear nothing but trash talk in the halls about another school. Council Rock, Bensalem and especially Pennsbury will never compete (no matter how many times our sports teams lost to them).

The Locker Banks

I have never been in a more crowded place than the Neshaminy locker banks in-between periods. Trying to weave in and out of the mass of people that block my locker made that five-minute break in-between periods just a bit shorter.

Teachers

Although we may not like a majority of our teachers for our classes, I think we can all admit to the fact that at least one teacher during our time at Neshaminy has impacted us positively. They make sitting through that 45-minute period a little more tolerable.

The Cafeteria

Alright, here me out. I know the food is not the greatest, but I have met some of my best friends sitting at those uncomfortable long tables. From getting homework done for the next period that you forgot to do, to making conversation with a complete stranger sitting next to you because of the limited seating space, I seriously would not have it any other way.

Football Games

I have never seen more Neshaminy pride than at one of their football games during the fall. Nothing made me happier than seeing the Skins guys in the bleachers with body paint and costumes cheering on their home team.

Although I no longer go to Neshaminy, looking back, I am proud of receiving an education from the place that shaped and molded me into the person that I am today. I am proud to say that I am a Neshaminy alum.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time.
