I hope you guys really appreciate the Freaks and Geeks quote I slipped into the sub-headline, because it accurately describes our friendship. I have to say, this is pretty difficult to write about, considering the fact that I feel as though this won't do you guys justice. As a group, we have gone through so much together over the years. We have managed to make our friendship last over a decade and I couldn't be more proud of us. I realize things have changed, more importantly, we have changed. But I'm glad that as we've grown up, we've made our friendship a priority while simultaneously becoming young adults and leading our own lives. When I try to describe our little clique to other people, they're amazed at how close we still are no matter the distance, relationships, or personal issues we've all encountered. Heck, I'm amazed too; it's not always easy maintaining a friendship you made in elementary school.
I can't thank you two enough for sticking with me through whatever has come my way. I'm a tad over dramatic at times. I say really random and stupid things. And when I'm cranky, I'm really cranky, but you still love me all the same. Thank you for being the best friends that turned into sisters. Your daily snapchats make my day when I'm missing you at school and when I listen to "Teenage Dirtbag" or anything by Avril Lavigne/Ke$ha, I smile at the countless times we jammed out like idiots. I'd just like to thank you so much for allowing me to be myself completely.
It's an understatement to say that I am extremely proud of what you both have accomplished. You have school, jobs, and commitments in your lives and you handle it all with the grace and poise I only hope to have. We're all doing different things right now and that's okay: Because when we all hang out together again, we all have new and interesting stories to tell. This new stage in our lives is nothing but beneficial for us because we're not all in the same school, in the same classes, with the same people. We're each bringing something special to the group like we never have before; we're actually maturing into adults. Who knew we could actually do that?
Whenever I've pictured my wedding day, I could never picture the groom (let's all laugh together at my nonexistent love life), but I have always been able to see who will be standing there next to me when I commit myself to that man. That would be you two. What I'm trying to say is that my future love and family will be my priority, but you guys will never not be a part of that family. I plan on still having grown-up sleepovers every once in awhile, triple date nights, play dates with our kids, holiday parties - the whole shebang. If you guys aren't in my future, I don't even know who I'm gonna invite to all of these events.
As I've mentioned before, lots of stuff has changed for us as a group and individually when we graduated from high school and became legal adults. I hate to say that not all of those changes were necessarily good ones. Being a firm believer in the whole "everything happens for a reason" philosophy, it saddens me deeply to know that not everything worked out the way we always wanted them to. On the other hand, it gives me hope for all of the other possibilities in our lives. So here is to the amazing women I call my best friends, besties, BFFLs, or more precisely, my sisters.
Sincerely,
Bean
