Mothers' Day, the day we spending celebrating our moms and the motherly figures in our lives. But what about the moms that exist on our TV screens? While they may just be characters, they capture the true essence of what its like to be a mom. Whether real people or cartoons, these ladies should be celebrated.

1. Lorelai Gilmore from Gilmore Girls

While Gilmore Girls has been off the air for several years now, Lorelai is one of the best tv moms to ever exist. Not only did she raise her daughter Rory as a single parent but she supported Rory's academic dreams. Lorelai and Rory's relationship is one every child should strive to have with their mom.

2. Claire Dunphy from Modern Family

The typical control freak type mom who is in charge of keeping track of everyone's schedule including her own. Claire approaches tough situations, mostly with grace, but also with humility, determination, and the strength only a mother could have. She fights for what she believes is right and isn't afraid of a challenge.

3. Linda Belcher from Bob's Burgers

Being a mom in an animated series doesn't not hold Linda back. She embodies real moms just like the rest of the tv moms on this list. Whether she's dealing with her stressed husband, rowdy and sometimes troublesome kids, catastrophes at work, and trying to find a little “me time” through it all, she is just like most moms. Not to mention her weird and sassy personality.

4. Beverly Goldberg from The Goldberg's

The mother of all smothers! Though this show is set in the 80s, there's no denying Beverly's love for her kids. With her hilarious pet names, hideously charming sweaters, and sky high hair, she's a hard mom to forget.

5. Gloria Pritchett from Modern Family

Though Gloria is more of a wild card compared to the rest of the moms, her love for her sons and her creativity deserve to be praised. She's not afraid to think outside of the typical mom box, own her looks, or speak her mind.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
