Earlier this month it was the 10th anniversary of High School Musical. So many great things came out of this wonderful masterpiece, even though it did give an unrealistic view of what high school was like. You are definitely lying if you didn’t fall in love with Troy Bolton and everything about him. Your love for Troy Bolton then led to always watching Zac Efron movies, though they may be the dumbest movies ever made. Vanessa Hudgens became the girl that everyone wished they were since not only was she dating Zac Efron on screen, but off. Everything about this movie will be remembered in its entirety. So HSM, this one is for you.
My early preteen years would have been different without your musical numbers that I could never get out of my head. I wished that I could always be in your films and be a part of the dance numbers. It’s fine though because I actually did the dances at my house and performed them with no shame at all. Kenny Ortega, you are genius in what you do. Still to this day, I will gladly sing and dance along with the music that never dies. When it came to HSM3 Senior Year, it hit home. I was not actually a senior in high school then, but saying bye to my friends and family seemed so far away until it was august of my freshman year. I admit willingly that I even shed a little tear after Troy’s graduation speech and the last dance scene ended with all the original cast members taking one final bow.
High school musical will always be a part of my childhood and preteen years that I will never forget. So to Disney and HSM, thank you for bringing joy into my simple little life even still. You will always be one of my favorite trilogies.
