Spring has sprung, and you know what that means-spring cleaning! Spring closet cleaning that is-out with the old and in with the new!! But what exactly should go out, and more importantly, what should come in? Fear not, my fashion savvy friend- your favorite fashion major-writer has returned with the hottest springs trends for this upcoming season.
A typical spring staple from the beginning of fashion has been pastel colors- whether it matches the flowers or the Eggs or just the happy nature of the season, but it just works. This year however, pastel pink is especially prevalent, and is incredibly diverse in its use- pants, blazers, dresses, skirts, you name it, it’s being produced in this color. This is especially great because it allows you to find an on-trend item in your personal budget easily, and the wide range of products gives you an even better selection!
One thing that has been becoming bigger and bigger throughout 2017 and is reaching its height this season is wide leg, ankle cut, high-waisted pants. I personally of a huge fan, because I love the sophisticated look to the trend. The higher waist and hem is also very flattering, and showing just a hint of leg is just sassy enough to be unique and trendy in a work environment.
Boyfriend jeans are another pair of bottoms that are being heavily worn this season, especially ones with higher hemlines as well. The baggier style paired with the trendy tears across the legs gives a chic look to any outfit, and is perfect to dress up or dress down.
As for shoes, I am incredibly happy to see that traditional strappy sandals and high heels are out, and sleek slip-on open back shoes and strappy kitten heels are on trend. The trends this spring all seem to be following the sophisticated-but-can-be-dressed-down-to-look-hecka-trendy vibe, which is a vibe I am totally here for.
Both shoes are cute (and comfortable) enough to wear out shopping, but can also be worn into work. Also, these styles are a lot more reasonable than sky-high heels rocketing you to the atmosphere, something a business woman or a college student are all grateful for.
Lastly, pleats are back! But not your typical little girl pleats on your little skirts. These pleats coming back into trend are longer, in more muted colors, and designed for a more mature audience.
Floral prints paired with pleats are especially trendy this spring- pleats, prints, pastels- it’s as simple as that!
