Let us first address the issues with this photo. I get that this photo is supposed to be cute and humorous. Do you get the reason you are thinking, "Oh yeah, look at her; okay, I can eat whatever I want!" Is because the girl in the photo is beautiful? Now, I am not saying by any means that you need to look like her, but notice her long and tanned, skinny legs dressed in shorts and a crop top. You don't see folds in her stomach. Her arms are thin and taught. She's stunning.
You mentally associate the quote with her figure. But I guarantee you that girl does not eat whatever she wants all the time, unless what she wants are healthy foods 24/7. She exercises and eats right; She takes care of her body. You know the reason why she can lay there in front of that poster smiling and laughing? It's because she is confident in her body and the way she takes care of it, as she should be. Because a healthy lifestyle is a happy lifestyle.
I do not 100 percent agree with this "love your body how it is, no matter what size" movement. I understand and agree with the fact that you should love yourself, and everyone is beautiful in their own way. I personally do not think size defines who you are and the number on the scale is not something to be ashamed of; but no matter what size, healthy living is very important. I also understand we are all built with very different body structures, and no, obviously, we all do not need to look like Victoria’s Secret models (are they even human?).
But I feel like this movement just promotes an excuse for unhealthy people to justify their actions (or lack thereof) and eating habits: because it's tagging stuff like "eat whatever you want,” "you don't have to run if you don't want to,” and it's counteracting the efforts of the people who are trying to promote healthy living and bring down the obesity rate in America.
If you love your body you should take care of it. Don't starve yourself, that doesn't help anything. But don't overeat either because you don't care.
Drink water, eat healthy and exercise. Of course, you can treat yourself with desserts and sweets, as long as everything is taken in moderation. Keep your body healthy and fit. It not only takes care of your physical body, it improves your mental state. When you take care of yourself and are healthy, you feel happy. That's real self-love. Taking care of yourself is the right way to love your body. Your body, internally and outwardly, deserves to be treated better than that.
It is scientifically proven (feast-ed.org) that when you take care of yourself and are active and healthy, you feel amazing. It improves your mental state and exercising releases endorphins in your body, which are your happy hormones.
Strive to take care of your body and mentality by eating right and getting in exercise. Make sure you get the sleep you need, rest is also very important. If you are mindful of what you are doing to your body, you will start to feel better.
