Traveling With Your Partner Is A Big Step In The Relationship

It's a big deal to take a vacation with an s/o. You learn a lot about one another, maybe even too much, and it can either make or break your relationship. But from my most recent experience, I've been able to strengthen my relationship and here's how:

First of all, make sure you're able to keep the conversation going with your special someone. If you both have a hard time striking up a topic to talk about, you may be facing future issues that will venture beyond just vacation survival tips. During vacation, a huge part of the time is travel. Whether you're in a car, a plane, or just waiting in line, you're going to have a lot of alone time to chit chat so enjoy yourselves and continue to learn from each other. It doesn't matter if you've been together for 3 months or 3 years. Your partner will always have something new to teach you.

Secondly, I would strongly suggest agreeing on taking pictures of your vacay only at certain parts of the day. Most partners I've met hate having to take 1,000 pictures for hours and hours and it can drain your partner and take away quality time of the vacation. Communicate and agree on when it's okay to take pictures for social media and when it's time to just enjoy the moment. Guidelines like these are so helpful when you're planning on spending a period time with someone you care about.

Lastly, be prepared to not always get along. Vacations can be stressful at times. You may get lost, the weather may get worse, or you might be feeling a little tired and that can sometimes project some frustration on to your partner. It's okay to be a little agitated at times. It's normal when you spend intimate time with the same person for a long period of time. But you need to make sure you communicate your frustration with your partner so that way both of you understand how the other is feeling and can be conscious of what can help or hurt the problem.

It's a major step in a relationship to go on a big vacation. It's scary and exciting, but it does require trust and communication. Just like any good relationship. So enjoy your trip, enjoy each other, and start exploring!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
